A Baie des Caps sweater does not pill. Yes, a sweater that does not pill exists: the quality of our wools and of our knitting makes it possible — and we formally commit to it, for life. In seven years at the workshop, we have seen only one sweater pill.
What we guarantee
If your sweater knitted by our workshop pills under normal conditions of use and care (see our care guide), we replace it — automatically and free of charge — with an identical sweater: same model and same size, identical colour subject to availability, otherwise an equivalent chosen with you.
Duration and scope
This commercial guarantee is free, valid for life (for the whole lifetime of the product) and worldwide. It covers sweaters knitted and sewn by the Baie des Caps workshop in Beaussais-sur-Mer (it does not apply to items from other brands sold in our boutique, nor to normal wear other than pilling — snags, holes or felting caused by improper washing, for which our workshop offers repairs at workshop prices).
How to claim it
Write to us at contact@baiedescaps.com (or visit the boutique) with one or two photos of the sweater and your proof of purchase — or simply the manufacturing number on the composition label, which lets us trace your sweater. We send you a prepaid return label (mainland France) and ship the replacement sweater free of charge upon receipt.
Your questions
Do sweaters that never pill really exist?
Yes. Pilling comes from short fibres escaping from a mediocre yarn or loose knitting. With long-fibre wool and a tight stitch like ours, the phenomenon almost completely disappears — to the point that we can guarantee it.
Is the sweater guaranteed for life?
Against pilling, yes: the anti-pilling guarantee is valid for life, free of charge, worldwide. And for the rest of its life (a snag, a pulled thread, elbow patches), your sweater can be repaired for life in our workshop, at workshop prices.
Why do wool sweaters usually pill?
Because of friction on short fibres or loose knitting. It is a matter of yarn and knitting quality, not an inevitability of wool: well knitted, virgin wool does not pill.

Legal notice — Independently of this commercial guarantee, the seller remains bound by the legal guarantee of conformity set out in articles L. 217-3 to L. 217-20 of the French Consumer Code, and by the guarantee against hidden defects under articles 1641 to 1649 of the French Civil Code. Consumers have two years from delivery of the goods to invoke the legal guarantee of conformity, without having to prove the existence of the defect during that period. The legal guarantee of conformity entitles the consumer to repair or replacement of the goods, free of charge.
